Wordy Wednesday, Purrs needed

Hi there Mew Mew here and I had to go to that vet place yesterday. I am very sick. I had a temp of 104 and a stuffy nose and was sneezing  a little bit. The Person found me in the morning and could tell how sick I was because my third eyelid had come up. So that silly lady put a huge jacket on and some gloves, got the carrier and I felt so bad, I let her put me into that darn thing. I can be a little feisty and I guess she didn't want bloody arms.
So I sang all the way to the vet and then I was a good girl while I was there at that place. I had to be stuck 3 times and all kinds of other bad stuff. I have an upper respiratory infection. So that Person brings me home and shuts me in the bathroom. Now for revenge, I kept her up all night crying and crying and crying. You see I am used to staying outside. This morning I escaped since she is not as fast as she used to be getting out the door, I am under the bed in the bedroom and will not come out.

Now, the Person has a question, what can she use to disinfect the whole bedroom and now the bedroom??? We just don't want everyone sick again.

Don't forget to check out the AUCTION   There are lots of new things on there and there will be some more new things this morning.

Have a great day.

  1. Oh, we are so sorry about Mew Mew being sick. It is hard to know what would be best for disinfecting - the bathroom could use chlorine bleach on the floor etc, but the bedroom is hard. Can the other kitties be kept out of there for a while? Most likely transmission of the virus would be by droplet from the nose and mouth.

  2. We're sorry that you're feeling so sick Mew Mew and we hope that you feel much better.

A respiratory infection is generally a second infection that develops from having a cold and is not contagious in any way. The cold on the other hand is, but not all cat that catch the cold will get an infection.

However a good natural and cat safe disinfectant is vinegar. Mix with some water and a few drops a lavender oil in a spray bottle and use to clean hard surfaces or to mist soft furnishings.

  5. Purrs for Mew Mew, we hope she recovers quickly and that everyone else stays healthy.

For cleaning, our human mostly uses a spray bottle of half-hydrogen peroxide (kills germs, disinfects, keeps things stain-free) and half-water. Works great in her bathroom, but we don't know if that would be appropriate for your bedroom.

  11. OH DEAR MEW MEW we are so sorry you are sick and hope you feel better very soon. Mom doesn't know much about disinfectant but sometimes they say with humans once they have been on meds for 24 hours they are no longer contagious...not sure if that is the case with kitties.

  12. So sorry you are under the weather Mew Mew. Wish our mom could help you. Whenever she tries to keep some virus from not passing on to at least some of us, she never seems to be successful. We usually infect each other before she even knows one of us is sick. Get well really super fast. 19. Sending healing purrz to Mew Mew. Paw Relations seems to have a good solution. TW uses Clorox disinfectant wipes on the phone and computer when Pop is sick but not sure if kitties should walk over it.

  21. Oh Mew Mew, we're sorry you had to go to the V-E-T. No one likes that. But in this case, we promise you'll feel better in no time! Our Mom and Dad use Wet Wipes and a weak bleach/water solution to scrub from ceiling to floor including litter box(s), food and water bowls. All toys are washed as well as carriers, bedding and towels. They probably go over the top but we don't mind because they do it for us. Sending healing purrs....

We think something not too toxic to disinfect would be good-like half hydrogen peroxide and water (Fuzzy Tales) suggestion sounds good!

  33. I hope you feel better soon Mew Mew :( We used bleach to disinfect at the vet clinic. That might work for the bathroom but I don't know about the bedroom. I guess I would just use some disinfectant sprays to wipe things down and wash/vacuum everything else. And keep those areas closed off to other kitties for at least a couple of days.
