Margs Animals Annex.

A friend that lives right down the road from me discovered a feral cat and so he started feeding her just a tiny little ways from his house. Well to make a long story short, there are now 12 to 15 cats down there. Most of which are kittens. So I now go down there twice a day so the cats can get to know me a little bit.
We are going to try to catch them and get them spayed and neutered and then bring them back the bank of dirt where they live. I am NOT keeping any of them.
I put a carrier down there and put food inside and then as they get used to going in there, I will slowly close the door and off to the vet. Two are three are already going in. This is all going to take a long time but it will be worth it in the long run. I do not want to use a trap for a couple of reasons. One is it will scare the dickens out of them and then the others won't go anywhere near the trap.
Where they are eating the bank of a ditch. And there are woods all behind there, so they have lots of safe places to hide.
So if I don't get to your blogs to visit, I am trying to catch kitty kats.

Everyone have a great day.

  6. The food-in-the-crate trick was what I used to catch my first feral, George! He was wise to any other trap I used...even a drop trap! The day we closed the door on the crate, I cried, because it had taken me all summer to trap him, and I'd grown to love our time together. But, he received a home of his own, and I thank his adopters again and again for allowing him to join their family. Good luck!

  7. I feel bad for feral cats. Though bird lovers want them gone. They destroy common birds like wildfire, but it's hard to blame them.
