Hi there Mister here again. I had to go back to the vet again yesterday and it seems that I have stomatitis.
Feline stomatitis is a severe, painful inflammation of a cat’s mouth and gums. In most cases, the condition causes ulcers to form in the mouth; these ulcers can involve the lips, tongue, gums, and back of the throat. Cats of any age or breed can be affected.
So usually, extraction of the teeth makes the stomatitis better. So far it hasn't helped Mister which has the vets scratching their heads. So he has to go on steroids for a while to see if that will help. He does not have any ulcers on his lips or tongue. We have had two other cats, Boyzo and Splitters and they were both all right after the teeth came out.So hopefully we can keep Mister comfortable.

Enjoy your Thursday

My Tiny had stomatitis since he was a kitten. He is now a little over 3. We tried everything to save his teeth including laser treatments but he eventually had all but 4 fangs extracted. I've been using Oratene Maintenance Oral Gel and Oratene Antiseptic Oral Gel on the 4 teeth Tiny has and they seem to help him. There is also another product called Ora Vet but the Oratene is so much easier to apply and Tiny doesn't mind it. I think the Ora Vet has to be prescribed by a vet and it is a bit pricey. I order the Oratene on line. So far, Tiny hasn't had any flareups. I hope Mister can be helped by his vet. He is a very handsome boy.
ReplyDeleteSure are purring for you Mister. That's painful and NOT fun....
