Gray Tabby Thankful Thursday

Our boy Lucky went to the vet yesterday and it was discovered that he is in kidney failure. SO, the vet gave us two subscriptions and we got one of them since the store didn't have the other one. Last night he ate a whole can of the new food but this morning he will not eat it. The vet tech gave us a bunch of recipes and so we have to get get all the ingredients today and cook for him.
Also I am going to try some different flavors and try to order the other kind of food and just see if I can get it here fast.
We are just so thankful that we have some great vets.

Any prayers or good thoughts would be appreciated. Just wish I could get him to eat.  Everyone have a wonderful day.

  1. Oh Lucky, I'm sorry you and the Mom are dealing with this, but you need to eat, it's good for you and it's less stress for the Mom too. We're sending tons of purrs and prayers to you. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.

  4. We are sending all of our purrs and prayers to sweet Lucky! My angel Rosie lived with chronic kidney disease for 3 years, and her kidneys are not even what gave out in the end. She would not eat any of the special renal foods, but we got her stabilized with sub-q fluids at home, Pepcid/famotidine (this treats stomach ulcers that often occur with kidney disease), potassium (hers was low), and the kidney health nutraceutical known as RenAvast (now called AminAvast). We are purring and praying that Lucky gets his appetite back and eats, and that he feels more like him old self very soon! We're thinking about you all!

  6. That's what got our Little Bit. Regulating their diet is a must, but it will only last for so long. It's not fair that they can get sick like this. We eventually mixed the vets food with great food off the shelf and Little Bit would eat. Then one day she wouldn't. Sending lots of prayers, Marg.

Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. My best to you, Marg. ♥♥♥

  7. We're very sorry. It is the worst when they won't eat. Have you tried chicken baby food to get him interested?

  8. Aw, shoot. Hang tough, Lucky! It's an awful thing, kidney failure. So many elder cats get it and it is just so hard to keep them on that food...it has NO flavor (Or so my kitty, Grace, used to tell me). Then they get nauseous because their tummy hurts from not eating and that makes them not want to eat. It's just really hard. But...if anyone can help Lucky, it's you, Marge. I finally gave up and cooked chicken for Grace in the end. I figured it wasn't going to keep her alive, but it at least made her eat and happy for the time that she had left. She was 18, after all. Try hard, Lucky! We want you around for a long time yet!

  10. Might try adding a little of his regular food to his prescription food for a while. We are sad to hear Lucky has kidney failure. Seems like older cats regularly develop it.

  14. I am sending lots and lots of purrs to Lucky. Kidney disease can make kitties not want to eat - that seems to be one of the more difficult things about it. I hope you find food that he wants regularly.

  15. Our angel Maggie had kidney issues and mom cooked for her because kibble wasn't a good thing for her any longer. We hope you find lots of yummy things that Lucky likes and we are sending lots of positive vibes and AireZen.

  26. I'm so sorry for Lucky and for you, Marg. It's not an easy disease when your cat won't eat the prescription food. Our vet said the most important thing is keeping them eating. We did subQ liquids, and a phosphorus binder in Tommie's fancy feast. Also 1/4 pepsid tablet for his sour tummy.
    Purring and praying for Lucky,
    xxoo

  27. Our Harvey has special kidney food. BUT he won't eat it often so I mix in some fancy feast and make it a bit watery so he gets liquids. I'm glad you have a good vet who can recommend stuff (ours hasn't).
